ENTRIES STILL OPEN - but not for long!!

​We are pleased to announce that entries are STILL OPEN for now to DBBAI students and invited clubs. We have secured a larger venue approx.10miles North of Cambridge, allowing more categories and more entrants.

​​​

We are again asking instructors to co-ordinate entry and fees from students where possible.

Individual Entry Categories :  Traditional Hyung, Chil Sung Hyung, Bo-staff Hyung, Open Weapons Hyung, Sparring.

£12.50 per category, £10 discount for all 5 categories.

£20 per team, minimum team size 3, maximum 5

GENERAL INFORMATION 

Event organizers: Master Gabriella Gentle (5th Dan) & Master Simon Clarke (5th Dan) for DBBAI

• There will also be volunteers assisting us on the day organizing groups and in the tuck shop

Location of the event:

Sports Hall, Northstowe Secondary School, Stirling Road, Northstowe, Cambridge, CB24 1DJ

Saturday 28th November 9am until 5pm

(Doors open from 8.30am, competitor line up 9am)

Spectators are welcome!

There will be limited spectator and competitor space(while not competing). There will be a £3.50 (under 3s are free) spectator charge (cash or card).

​

Car parking :

Free car parking is available at the college. Car park at rear of college and sign posted. 

DO NOT PARK ON THE COURTYARD IN FRONT OF RECEPTION

Tuck Shop!

There will be a small tuck shop available to purchase snacks and drinks. 

​

Changing Rooms

There are changing rooms available. 

​

Photography/Video:

There are no restrictions on taking photos or video, in fact DBBAI will have an official photographer on the day. 

If you have a concern about this, please make an organizer aware of it on the day directly or via any master rank.

As with the last 2 years we wont get everything right and this is going to be a bigger event, so please be patient with us! We want everyone to leave with some positive experiences of the day.

SCHEDULE (subject to change)

We will be running a maximum of 6 rings, there will be no floor mats.

On the day please listen out for announcements relating to competion groups, each group will be allocated a number like "H1" (Hyung group 1) or S1 (sparring group 1) etc...as the groups call will not always run in sequential order. 

​

When your group is called, please head to holding area (this will be at the far side of the hall) in readiness to be taken to your ring.

8.30am  : Doors open

8.45am  : Hyung judges briefing

9am       : Line up and announcements

9.30am  : Forms (Team Hyung, Open Hand Hyung and & Weapons commences)

Running order (subject to change)

• Team Hyung

• Masters Hyung 

• Dan grades Hyung 

• Gup Grade groups (starting with lower ranks, 10th, 9th etc) 

Lunch     : Lunch be provided for Masters

12.45pm: Sparring Judges briefing

1pm       : Sparring competition commences

Running order

• Gup Grade groups (starting with lower ranks, 10th, 9th etc) 

• Dan grades groups

• Masters

4pm       : Line up and closing announcements   

4.30pm  : Vacate hall promptly!

CHAMPIONSHIP RULES  (based on EMTF rules)

Any competition complaints should be addressed to the senior masters on the top table, they will be the final arbiters of any dispute.

INDIVIDUAL FORMS

Competitors maybe asked to perform individually or in pairs.             

3 or 5 judges, dependant on the number of SBN’s and Dan grades available will score.

In the event of a draw both competitors will perform again and the judges will make their decision by way of pointing to the winner.

4 Competitions:

Traditional Hyung = Any traditional hand forms/patterns (not Chil Sung)

Chil Sung = Any of the 7 Chil Sung patterns

Open Weapons Hyung = Any weapons forms (other than bo-staff)

Bo-staff weapons Hyung = Any bo-staff form

Scores being displayed to audience is at the discretion of head judge on ring. 

​

HYUNG (Team) 

See Hyung rules

In the case of a tie, the tied teams will perform again and on completion the judges will point to winning team.

Team size should be 3 - 5 

Any Hyung/open hand or weapon

​

SPARRING

Five or three referees will be used depending on availability.

Any referee can call a point.

Competition will be based on a straight knockout style system.

Some competitors will get an automatic  "bye" to next round based on group size.

Some groups will be "round robin" where there are only 3 competitors, they will have 3 fights to determine medal placing.

In the unlikely event of 2 competitors in a group, then they will have 2 rounds of fighting with a 1 minute rest break between.

All sparring rounds will be 2 minutes long but will automatically finish if either competitor manages to score 5 points clear.

In the event of a tie, there will be no extra time, but will proceed to sudden death (next point wins) scoring. (The winning point does not need to be a unanimous score).

SCORING

1 point - backfist to the head

1 point - reverse punch/lunging clean jab to the body

1 point – any kick to the body or head

2 points – any spinning or jumping kicks to the body or head (Jumping kicks, both feet must be off the floor at the point of impact)

2 points – CLEAR block followed by an immediate counter technique.

SPINNING BACKFISTS, SWEEPS, HOOKS, UPPERCUTS, ELBOW,  KNEE STRIKES AND ALL OPEN HAND TECHNIQUES ARE ALL BARRED

NO CONTACT BELOW THE BELT, BACK OF THE HEAD OR TO THE FACE. THERE MUST BE CONTROLLED CONTACT AT EVERY LEVEL. (Excessive contact causing blood or injury will result in disqualification)

ALL FIGHTERS MUST HAVE FULL SPARRING EQUIPMENT, head guard, gum guard, gloves (covering fingers), feet pads (covering toes), groin and chest guards if necessary.

Competitors with missing gum/groin protection can participate at the discretion of the head ring judge and agreement with competitor (adults) or parent/guardian/instructor (juniors) after risks explained.
